Morocco Accelerates Infrastructure Upgrades for 2030 World Cup Bid

In the perspective of organizing the 2030 FIFA World Cup, alongside Spain and Portugal, Morocco is working on the development of its infrastructure.
Morocco is focusing on the development of its infrastructure. In this regard, a roadmap has been put in place, said the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, at the end of an expanded meeting as part of the preparations for the organization of the 2030 World Cup and dedicated to the coordination between all the ministerial departments concerned, the establishment of a unified system of joint collective action and the realization of an integrated roadmap.
According to his explanations, it focuses on the upgrading of the stadiums that will be ready during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled in Morocco, and the construction of the Grand Stadium of Benslimane which will be ready during the 2030 World Cup, as well as the highways and roads that will be built to ensure smooth access to the stadiums. It is also planned to upgrade the ports so that they are ready to welcome the public of the 2030 World Cup and to extend the high-speed rail network.
The Moroccan bid that will be submitted as part of the global bid with Portugal and Spain will have to meet FIFA’s requirements, the minister continued. According to him, a number of points were addressed during this meeting. This includes the infrastructure component with the various roads and highways that will need to be put in place to meet these expectations.
