Moroccan Wrestlers Vanish During World Championships in Serbia, Trafficking Suspected

The Royal Moroccan Wrestling Federation finds itself under pressure since two of its wrestlers secretly left the residence where the Moroccan delegation is staying in Serbia. Morocco is there to participate in the under-23 world wrestling championships. The Serbian police have been informed and are investigating to find the two wrestlers who are said to be in the hands of Serbian traffickers, according to the president of the federation.
Morocco is once again experiencing the sudden disappearance of athletes abroad. They are many of these athletes who take advantage of international competitions to take flight. This is the case of two young wrestlers who saw in their presence in the Balkans to participate in the under-23 world wrestling championships, an opportunity to explore other horizons. But in the current case, the president of the Federation suspects the involvement of a human trafficking network, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
This is why Fouad Maskout filed a complaint with the Serbian police services. This is not the first time that the wrestling federation has been targeted by this type of gang, as many young Moroccan champions are particularly monitored by these networks, says Fouad Maskout to the newspaper. "All the evidence shows that the flight of the two wrestlers was meticulously prepared," adds Maskout, who indicates that the Serbian police have opened a thorough investigation and that the telephone conversations made by the two wrestlers have been examined.
The president of the wrestling federation did not fail to express his disappointment at the behavior of the two wrestlers. He finds it inappropriate that so much investment at many levels is wiped out by gangs specializing in human trafficking.
