Moroccan World Cup Star Sabiri Joins Fiorentina, Loaned Back to Sampdoria

The negotiations between Sampdoria and Fiorentina resulted on Tuesday evening in the official transfer of Moroccan player Abdelhamid Sabiri.
"ACF Fiorentina is pleased to announce the signing of Abdelhamid Sabiri on an indefinite basis from U.C. Sampdoria," the Italian club announced, noting that they have left the attacking midfielder on loan to Sampdoria until June 30.
Abdelhamid Sabiri is one of the Moroccan players who made headlines during the winter transfer window after a successful World Cup campaign. He said he was "excited and happy" to join Fiorentina at the end of his loan period. "I am happy to continue wearing [your] jersey for the rest of the season. I promise to give everything possible until the last second to realize our dream."
The transfer amount would be 4 million euros. Sabiri will play alongside his teammate Sofyan Amrabat, whose transfer to Barça failed. Author of good performances with Morocco during the World Cup in Qatar, Abdelhamid Sabiri has only scored one goal with Sampdoria in 13 matches.
The native of Goulmina joined Genoa in January 2022 from the Serie B club Ascoli Calcio for one million euros. He had then signed a three-year loan contract with Sampdoria for an amount of 330,000 euros.
