Moroccan Workers Resist Office Return as Telework Gains Popularity

The enthusiasm for telework born from the Covid-19 pandemic is evident in Morocco. Many employees would like to adopt it as a new method of work, even if some are happy to return to their offices.
Several companies are unable to bring employees back to work or to re-motivate them. While some are very happy to return to their offices, others resist doing so. The reasons are numerous: fears for health, childcare, uncertainty on a personal and professional level... they say.
Since the implementation of telework within her establishment, Sara, a telephone operator, interviewed by La Vie Eco, does not regret remote work at all: "Even if the company has considered a gradual return to the premises since August, I will not go back there." The same goes for Ali, an IT consultant, who also appreciates this new way of working. He is in no hurry to return to the office. "We are talking about mobilization and solidarity to energize the company. Frankly, I no longer feel like getting involved," he admits.
These employees have developed a taste for a certain freedom. "They felt relief at the possibility of freeing themselves from their hierarchy. In search of autonomy, they were able to organize themselves as they saw fit," explains Ghita Mseffer, a psychologist.
Crisis situations are opportunities that allow managers to show imagination and adaptation for better mobilization of their employees.
