Agadir Bypass Highway Project Advances with New Geotechnical Study

The Regional Directorate of Equipment, Transport and Logistics of Souss-Massa has recently launched the geotechnical study and preliminary project expertise for the Agadir bypass highway project.
This strategic project plans to connect the Marrakech-Agadir highway to the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway via the current north-eastern bypass of Agadir. The infrastructure will help to improve traffic flow and enhance the region’s accessibility. With an estimated cost of 4.31 million dirhams, the contract launched by the Regional Directorate of Equipment, Transport and Logistics aims to recruit an expert to conduct an in-depth study of the soils and rock formations along the route of the future bypass highway, according to Les Éco.ma.
The selected service provider will have the main task of carrying out a geological and geotechnical survey, which involves identifying potentially difficult areas and refining the investigation program, as well as analyzing and interpreting the results and writing geotechnical reports related to the preliminary project expertise. Another already selected engineering firm will be responsible for examining and validating the geotechnical aspect of the highway’s preliminary study. The duration of the study is set at four months, starting from the date of the service order.
As a reminder, nearly 222 million dirhams have been mobilized for the construction of the third section of the north-eastern bypass of Greater Agadir, for which work has already been launched by the Regional Directorate of Equipment, Transport and Logistics of Agadir-Ida Outanane and should last 24 months. Electrification and public lighting works for the bypass, costing 48.78 million dirhams, have also been awarded.
