Moroccan Woman Arrested for Polyandry and Fraud in Spain-Morocco Marriage Scandal

A Moroccan woman, residing in Spain, is being prosecuted under arrest at the local prison of Bourkayez, in Fez, for adultery, polyandry and document forgery. Her trial will open this Thursday, January 9.
This Moroccan residing abroad (MRE) married three men at the same time, thus violating the Moroccan penal code which formally prohibits polyandry, reports Assabah. In 2016, she had married a Moroccan residing in Spain, before leaving him. From this union, a daughter will be born. A few months later, she remarried another MRE residing in the same country. They separate shortly after, without having divorced. Subsequently, she will marry a third man by deception.
When the last two husbands discovered the deception of which they were victims by their then pregnant partner, they filed a complaint, specifies the same source. They also demanded a DNA test to know the true father of the baby.
The MRE was arrested in early December 2019 upon her return to Morocco. She admitted the facts during her interrogation. Pending the opening of her trial on Thursday, January 9, she has been detained in the local prison of Bourkayez, in Fez. In accordance with the penal code, she faces a sentence of 6 months to 2 years in prison.
