Moroccan Teacher Arrested for Bigamy After Falsifying Documents

A Moroccan woman accused of contracting a new marriage while she was already married, was arrested on Friday by the police in Meknes.
Just out of prison, the "first husband" filed a complaint, according to the daily Assabah. His wife would have remarried, without prior divorce, and would even have a child with the "second husband", an army officer. During her interrogation, the teacher admitted all the facts she was accused of.
To contract this new union, the teacher preferred to falsify documents, including a certificate of virginity, instead of initiating a divorce procedure due to the prolonged absence of her husband, the latter having been incarcerated since 2017. Thanks to these falsifications, she was able to sign a new marriage certificate with another man.
When the first husband was released from prison, he learned of his wife’s remarriage and posted a video on social networks, wondering about the support and assistance she may have obtained to remarry without ending her union.
In the meantime, the newspaper specifies, the teacher even tried to initiate a divorce procedure, but too late, she now risks a prison sentence for adultery, polyandry and document forgery.
As for the second husband, he denied being aware of everything that was done by his wife. He would never have doubted the sincerity of "his" wife before marrying her.
In 2014, the Sefrou court sentenced a 24-year-old woman to 4 months in prison for having married two men at the same time. The woman, 27, had been wanted for three years by her first husband, a Moroccan resident in Spain who, after marrying her, had left her with his sister in Jerada, before returning to Spain.
