Moroccan Woman Arrested for Online Sextortion Scheme Targeting Middle Eastern Victims

Accused of engaging in online sexual blackmail compromising Israelis and Gulf nationals, a pregnant woman was arrested by the judicial police in Oued Zem.

The young woman’s arrest took place in a hotel where she had taken refuge to escape her violent husband. Verifying her identity allowed the police to know that she was the subject of a wanted notice for fraud, blackmail and threat to disclose compromising images. This mother of two children is accused of having cashed 124 transfers from Israeli and Gulf nationals victims of sexual blackmail. On the orders of the prosecutor of the king near the court of first instance of Oued Zem, she was placed, at the beginning of the week, in preventive detention, reports the Arabic daily Assabah.

According to a source close to the investigation, this woman is not the only person involved in this sextortion case. There is also her husband, the son of a former police officer. He "posted a photo of a beautiful woman on his Facebook profile and asked his interlocutors to exhibit themselves while he filmed them". After which, he blackmailed his victims. He demanded money from them. It then falls to his wife to cash the transfers made by the victims.

The date of appearance of the accused has been set for December 25. The investigating judge at the court of first instance of Oued Zem should organize a confrontation between her husband, some of his relatives involved, directly or indirectly, in this sextortion case and her.
