Moroccan Wedding Ends in Divorce Over Bride’s Refusal to Wear Traditional Amazigh Dress
A wedding celebrated in Morocco had an unexpected and sad outcome. The groom pronounced the divorce on the very evening of the wedding, following his young wife’s refusal to wear the traditional Amazigh dress.
According to eyewitness accounts on site, the young woman had prepared to wear several traditional costumes, as is customary at Moroccan weddings. But the fairy tale turned into a nightmare. The bride refused to wear the Berber dress, considering it "outdated" and preferring more modern outfits in her eyes. This decision provoked the anger of the groom and his family, for whom the Amazigh dress is a very important element of their cultural identity.
Witnesses report that after a heated exchange with the bride, the groom left the ceremony, followed by his family, and announced the divorce on the spot.
These facts quickly went viral on Moroccan social media, sparking strong reactions. While some Internet users expressed their support for the groom, believing he was right to defend his traditions, others expressed their solidarity with the bride, arguing that she was free to choose her outfit.
