Moroccan PM Urges Support for National Soccer Team After Africa Cup Exit

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch took advantage of the monthly oral questions addressed to him to call on Moroccans to support the Atlas Lions eliminated from the final stages of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2021).
Morocco’s defeat at the gates of the CAN 2021 semi-finals was brought up at the traditional monthly oral question session addressed to the Prime Minister on general policy, this Monday. "We were all sad on Sunday evening, but this Monday morning everything is fine," said Aziz Akhannouch. "We have a young team that works, builds and will move forward. We need this team and we ask people to support it," he added.
He recalled that the players already feel extremely guilty about this elimination and that they need the compassion and support of all Moroccans. "Yesterday all the players were in tears. The government supports the national team."
