Moroccan Tycoon's Quebec Estate Fetches Staggering $14.5M

In Quebec, a vast domain belonging to Morocco’s richest man, Othman Benjelloun, CEO of Bank of Africa (BOA), has been sold at a high price.

$14,537,302. This is the cost of transferring a property of over 500 hectares located in the small community of Lingwick, not far from Scotstown in Le Haut-Saint-François, about an hour’s drive from Sherbrooke. This transaction generates a large profit for the company O Capital Investissements Verts, owned by Global Strategic Holdings Sarl, an investment company in Luxembourg owned by Moroccan businessman Othman Benjelloun. The Moroccan banker had acquired this property in January 2009 from Savane Investissement Inc, a Mont-Royal company controlled by a certain Jacqueline Raveau O’Kelley.

This transaction was concluded at the time for an amount of $9.5M, reports the Journal de Montréal. Benjelloun thus realizes a profit of $5.03M. The sale price is also almost twice the amount of its municipal assessment of $8.15M. The buyer also paid a transfer tax of $216,437, payable to the municipality of the Canton of Lingwick, as specified in the deed of sale signed before a notary in Val-d’Or on August 29, 2025.

The vast estate includes a 19,000 sq ft two-story main residence. It has 15 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms and three fireplaces with stone chimneys. This "vast property (977 football fields) bordering the shores of Lake Moffat, also includes a caretaker’s and servants’ residence, as well as three outbuildings and a boat shed," it is further specified.
