Moroccan Truckers Violate COVID-19 Restrictions, Sparking Public Outcry

Some truckers are allowed to transport individuals, in violation of the state of emergency measures. They were denounced by Internet users who fear for the health safety of Moroccans.
Truckers making the Casablanca-Agadir route were caught transporting individuals by Internet users who did not hesitate to denounce them. This attitude constitutes a great danger to the health and health safety of Moroccans, insisted the Internet users.
The reaction of the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water was quick. It recalled that the number of passengers for freight vehicles is limited to two. That is, the driver and one accompanying person. Internet users have urged the authorities to strengthen the monitoring of checkpoints and the control of trucks. But above all, to proceed with the identity check of passengers and truckers. This will make it possible to apprehend the unscrupulous.
Thus, since March 30, 2020, the number of passengers authorized in freight vehicles is only two people: the driver and one accompanying person. This decision aims to preserve the safety of professional drivers and their accompanying persons.
A decision in line with the provisions provided for in the decree implementing the provisions relating to the state of health emergency. The Ministry of Equipment and Transport calls for strict compliance with the measure, while recalling that any violation observed will be sanctioned.
