Moroccan tourists boost Andalusia tourism 42% growth Spain
Andalusia remains by far the preferred Spanish destination for Moroccan tourists. Its proximity to Morocco, its beaches and shopping opportunities continue to attract a rapidly growing clientele.
According to Turespaña’s 2025 report on the Moroccan tourism market, 329,000 Moroccan tourists visited Andalusia in 2024. This represents 42.9% of all Moroccan visitors who traveled to Spain, making it the top destination in the country for this clientele.

This attendance is on a sharp rise. In one year, the number of Moroccan tourists in Andalusia increased by 23.4%. The region thus reinforces its position as a preferred destination, far ahead of Madrid and Catalonia.
Andalusia’s appeal is first explained by its geographical proximity. The report highlights that Costa del Sol localities benefit from their quick access from northern Morocco, particularly thanks to maritime connections. This ease of access plays an important role in Moroccan travelers’ choice.
The beach product also weighs heavily in this preference. The Andalusian beaches, hotel offerings and leisure activities attract Moroccan clientele seeking rest, family vacations and shopping. Spain thus appears as a summer alternative to domestic Moroccan destinations, particularly for "sun and beach" tourism.
In total, Spain welcomed 767,000 Moroccan tourists in 2024, an increase of 30.8% year-on-year. Within this overall figure, Andalusia maintains a dominant position.
Madrid ranks second among Spanish destinations most visited by Moroccans. The capital attracted 187,000 Moroccan visitors in 2024, representing 24.3% of the market. It even records stronger growth than Andalusia, with an increase of 54.2%.
Catalonia completes the podium, with 87,000 Moroccan tourists, or 11.3% of the total. Unlike Andalusia and Madrid, it does record a decline, with a decrease of 11.1%.

These figures confirm the growing weight of the Moroccan market for Spanish tourism. And in this dynamic, Andalusia remains the big winner, driven by its proximity to Morocco and by a tourism offering that matches this clientele’s expectations well.
