The lifeless body of Saïd Laaraj, a 30-year-old amateur Moroccan rapper living in Roldán (Murcia), was found on Thursday on a farm in the city. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to shed light on this case, which has all the hallmarks of a murder.

Saïd’s body was found on Thursday in a field in Roldán (Murcia) by a neighbor who had come to pick figs. "They found my brother lying in a field fifteen or twenty meters from our house," laments Nordin, 32, one of the victim’s brothers, to the newspaper El Español. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to shed light on the death of this Moroccan, known on TikTok for his rap songs in which he denounced racism and Islamophobia.

According to the investigators, the victim’s body showed "apparent signs of violence". "It’s a rare case, we don’t know if someone hit him or if my brother fell while climbing the farm fence because he was epileptic," explains Nordin. "His life changed in 2019 because of the epileptic seizures. He couldn’t work," he informs. Saïd and his eight brothers and sisters arrived with their parents in Torre Pacheco (Murcia) 20 years ago from Morocco.

The investigators are not ruling out any hypothesis. At first, they were leaning more towards a settling of scores related to drug trafficking. But the victim’s brother rejects this possibility and seems convinced that it is a murder. "The injury he had on his head could not have come from a fall due to an epileptic seizure... They must have hit him violently," said Nordin, stressing that "Saïd was not selling drugs and had no debts. My brother had no problems with anyone."

Nordin confides that he saw his brother for the last time on Wednesday evening, around 10:30 p.m., in a game room. "I told him to go home, but he didn’t want to and I left... His breath didn’t smell of alcohol." Before his body was discovered on Thursday, Saïd was seen "at two o’clock in the morning near a kebab shop, and at six o’clock in the morning, in the vicinity of the Día supermarket," says the victim’s brother. The investigation is ongoing.
