Moroccan Teen’s Harrowing Account of Family Abuse Shocks Social Media

In this viral video, the teenager recounts that she was living happily in a house with her parents as well as her paternal grandmother and uncle. But her life took a turn the day her mother, a nurse by profession, lost her sight. Imane accuses her paternal grandmother of having made her mother drink herbal teas, which caused irreparable damage to her memory.

After the incident, the grandmother kept her mother, suffering from mental disorders, in a cellar, Imane said. This is the beginning of the teenager’s suffering, who is now left to her own devices. The grandmother would have allowed her youngest son, Imane’s uncle, to sexually abuse her. "He mistreated me all the time, and one day he deflowered me, the blood was flowing everywhere," said the victim.

Her grandmother started threatening her. "She told me she was going to cut my tongue if I told anyone," Imane recounts, in tears. Her grandmother would have beaten her several times with a stick. The teenager does not know what happened to her mother. "I don’t know what happened. I don’t know if she killed her," she said.

The second rape Imane would have been a victim of is allegedly by a neighbor. He would have sexually assaulted her at her home. The mother of the alleged rapist tried to cover up the matter, in vain. Her son was sentenced to one year in prison and she herself to two months.

"I don’t have my mother to defend me before the law and to assist me in my suffering," laments Imane. Her story has moved Moroccans who have expressed their support for her. They hope that an investigation will be opened and that the perpetrators will be punished.
