The Moroccan, MA, from Tetouan, tried to slit the throat of his girlfriend, a volunteer from an NGO with whom he had been in a romantic relationship for a little over a year and a half, according to judicial sources speaking to EFE. According to the investigation sources, the young man attacked the victim with a knife on Thursday, July 29, before taking her to the Ceuta University Hospital, as she had promised not to report him to the police. But once at the hospital, the woman recounted the facts to the health workers who immediately alerted the national police. This is how the young man was arrested and transferred to the main police station, say police sources, who add that he has been in pre-trial detention since Saturday.
The Moroccan is an unaccompanied foreign minor who lived in a minor center in the city of Ceuta until he came of age. He is accused of a presumed crime of gender-based violence and aggravated injury and, as a precautionary measure, a 200-meter restraining order has been issued against him, pending his trial.
