Moroccan students dominate French grandes écoles

The analysis by the newspaper Le Figaro evaluates the performance of foreign scientific preparatory classes based on the results of the prestigious École polytechnique (X) competition. Moroccan institutions occupy the top positions, reflecting the strength of an education system that prepares an elite for the most selective engineering competitions in France.

At the forefront of the scientific fields, the Lycée Mohammed VI d’excellence (Lydex) in Benguérir has an integration rate of 17.7% at the X over the last three years. This top trio is completed by the Lycée méditerranéen (Lymed) in Tétouan and the lycée Al Zahraoui in Rabat, consolidating Moroccan hegemony.

Other establishments such as the Lycée Moulay Idriss in Fès, the Ibn Timiya in Marrakech, and the Mohammed V in Casablanca are also among the ten best. In 2026, these high schools recorded significant admission rates, confirming that the Kingdom remains the main provider of foreign students for French scientific excellence.

Economic fields: Casablanca and Rabat confirm their leadership

The economic and commercial sector follows the same trend with a dominance of private groups. The "La Résidence" school group in Casablanca occupies the first place in the ECG sector, while the École des sciences et techniques et du management (ESTEM) leads the ECT technological sector with 33 successful integrations.

This success is explained by the massive investment of the Kingdom in its preparatory classes for the grandes écoles (CPGE). The newspaper points out that the Moroccan system attracts around 10,000 students each year, rigorously selected from the best national profiles, thus creating a pool of highly competitive talents.
