Moroccan Striker Hicham Zerouali: The Only Player to Wear Number 0 Jersey in Soccer History

Moroccan international Hicham Zerouali was the only player in history to wear the number 0 jersey. A look back at the career of a player who left us too soon.
Born on January 17, 1977 in Rabat, Hicham Zerouali was a striker who played for clubs like FUS de Rabat, Aberdeen (Scottish club) and Al-Nassr (Saudi club), as well as the Moroccan national team. He was the only player in history to wear the number 0 jersey. A jersey he had worn after signing with Aberdeen for a £450,000 contract. This number symbolized his name. He wore this jersey for an entire season. A year later, the Scottish league banned the use of this jersey. Since then, no player has worn it again.
With the Scottish club, Hicham made 40 appearances and scored 11 goals.
He also defended the colors of the Moroccan flag. In seven appearances, he scored 3 goals. He was the winner of the Moroccan Cup, runner-up of the Moroccan Championship, finalist of the Scottish Cup and League, and finalist of the Hassan II Tournament.
Victim of a terrible road accident that occurred in Rabat on December 5, 2004, Hicham Zerouali died at the age of 27, leaving behind a child.
