Moroccan Stars Shine as Osasuna Edges Sevilla in Copa del Rey Thriller

On loan from FC Barcelona, Moroccan Abdessamad Ezzalzouli qualified Osasuna for the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey by scoring in stoppage time against FC Sevilla (2-1), whose only goal was scored by Youssef En-Nesyri.

Ez Abde’s goal in stoppage time gives Osasuna their ticket for the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, a level they had not reached in this competition since 2005 when the club played the final. The emotion was at its peak at the final whistle of this match against Sevilla, who remained very determined until the end. Abde won’t forget this goal, his first in Osasuna colors, reports Marca.

The first goal of the match was scored by Chimy Ávila of Osasuna. Sevilla then developed their game and put Osasuna in difficulty, but could not materialize their many opportunities during the first part of the game which was very intense. The Moroccan goalkeeper of Sevilla, Yassine Bounou, who came on after an injury to Dmitrovic, stopped a shot from Chimy and deflected other shots from Osasuna’s attackers.

The match was largely dominated by Osasuna. But Sevilla’s Moroccan striker, Youssef En-Nesyri, managed to find the back of the net in the final minutes of stoppage time, giving his team the equalizer. With the score at 1-1, it was time for extra time. Confident after coming back into the game, Sevilla took a lot of initiatives to score a second goal. But a passing error by Rakitic allowed Ez Abde to recover the ball and score the winning goal.

In the last 15 minutes of play, Sevilla tried to come back and hope for a penalty shootout. But Osasuna held on until the final whistle and thus obtained their ticket for the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. A more than deserved victory. For its part, Sevilla, who played a good match, leaves the competition.
