Moroccan Stars Shine in European Leagues After AFCON Disappointment

After their early and disappointing elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023), some Atlas Lions are shining with their clubs. A way for Walid Regragui’s protégés to prove that they are capable of the best as well as the worst.
Most of the Atlas Lions develop unstoppable techniques and achieve great performances in major leagues known for their high competitiveness. Scoring a brace in two minutes (11’, 13’), Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri delivered an outstanding performance with Sevilla FC, thus contributing to the victory against Real Sociedad (3-2) that his club received on Saturday during the 27th matchday of La Liga. Thanks to this victory, the Sevillians (14th, 27 pts) continue their climb in the standings, while the Basques (7th, 40 pts) who recorded their second consecutive defeat in the league, continue their bad run before the return match against PSG in the Champions League.
The Atlas Lions, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Amin Adli and Chadi Riad are also shining through professionalism. On the other hand, defender Romain Saïss and midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who is now out of his team’s plans, Manchester United, are struggling to regain their rhythm from the Qatar 2022 World Cup, at the end of which they reached the semi-finals, making Morocco the first African country to reach this stage of the competition.
As we approach the next friendly matches of the Moroccan national team (one against Angola on Friday, March 22, the second against Mauritania on Tuesday, March 26 at the Grand Stade d’Agadir during the next international break), Walid Regragui will have to do his calculations better, taking into account the performances of his protégés in their clubs.
