Moroccan Star Sofiane Boufal Slams Death Hoax: ’My Mother Is Well’

Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal has formally denied the rumors circulating on social media announcing the death of his mother. The midfielder of Union Saint-Gilloise has published a message on Instagram to put an end to the speculation and ask for respect for the privacy of his family.
In his post, the player wrote: "The rumors about the death of my mother are completely unfounded. My mother is doing well, and we thank you for respecting our privacy. Please do not spread false information."
The brothers and sisters of the Moroccan international also intervened to put an end to the false news, sharing the message: "Alhamdulillah, she is doing well... thank you for your messages." The family reacted within a few hours after the dissemination of the unverified allegations, which claimed that the player’s mother had died in Qatar from an illness.
Sofiane Boufal’s mother has become a popular public figure among Moroccan supporters since the 2022 World Cup. Her emotional celebrations with her son on the pitch in Qatar had a global impact, becoming one of the symbols of the link between the players of the national team and their families during the historic run of the Atlas Lions.
