Moroccan Star Selim Amallah Sidelined: Fans Rally for His Return to Standard Liège Squad

Excluded from Standard de Liège matches, the situation of Selim Amallah worries his Moroccan fans who call on the Liège club to free the player.
#FreeAmallah is a hashtag created by Moroccan Internet users to force Standard to "free Selim Amallah". They do not understand the reasons why the player has been forced to remain on the bench before the World Cup and even after his performances during this international competition. The club’s management continues to boycott the skills of the 26-year-old player, reports SudInfo.
For Youssef Chani, host and sports commentator for Radio 2M, the player needs to be informed about his future. "Naturally, we all hope that his future will become clearer in the club. But we need to know what the real intentions of Standard are with him and whether a mutual agreement is still possible. Given his World Cup, his value has risen again and it might be an opportunity for the club to make a little money with him."
For the journalist, it is important that the club allows Selim Amallah to move forward. "Either Standard and Amallah manage to find common ground, in other words sit down again for an extension, in order to allow Selim to play again and to monetize him in the coming months. Or the situation remains as it is today. In this case, Standard, who needs money, will want to sell him this winter. But will the interested clubs want to spend money when Amallah will be free in June."
For him, the situation is delicate for the player. Mustapha Oussalah shares the same concern, but remains convinced that he will get through it. "For Selim, it’s a little slump since he’s no longer training with the A-team. But whatever happens, he has to stay positive and keep working. Even if it’s alone, he has to work. He’s a big boy, he has all the cards in hand to draw his future. I know he’ll keep going. Now he has to take advantage of his beautiful World Cup. I hope and I suppose, moreover, that offers have arrived for him."
According to the specialized site Transfermarkt, Selim Amallah’s market value has even increased from 4.5 to 6.5 million euros after his return from Qatar.
