Moroccan Star Hakimi Ranks 3rd in FIFA’s Most Expensive 2021 Transfers

FIFA has just published the ranking of the players whose transfers were the most expensive in the world in 2021. Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi ranks 3rd thanks to his transfer last July from Inter Milan to Paris Saint-Germain.
Achraf Hakimi signed a five-year contract with PSG for a total amount of 70 million euros. Since then, his value has increased significantly.
The most expensive transfer is that of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, who currently plays for Chelsea. He is followed by Englishman Jadon Sancho, who was transferred from Dortmund to Manchester United.
According to the "Global Transfer Report" published on Friday by FIFA, in 2021, around 18,000 international transfers were carried out, a figure well above that of 2020. But the total amount generated by these movements has declined for the second year in a row. According to FIFA, the total expenditure reached nearly $4.9 billion (€4.2 billion).
"Even though clubs needed to renew their squads, they were not as inclined to pay transfer fees, resulting in a total transfer amount in 2021 reaching its lowest level in five years," the report’s authors said.
