Moroccan Star Bounou Set for Comeback in Sevilla’s Crucial Europa League Clash

The Moroccan goalkeeper of FC Seville, Yassine Bounou, should return to the goal for the match against Manchester United scheduled for Thursday, after remaining on the bench for the last two matches against Cadiz FC and Celta de Vigo.
Since his arrival in Seville, José Luis Mendilibar, the new coach, has preferred Marko Dmitrovic, with whom he worked at Eibar, to Yassine Bounou in goal. The Moroccan goalkeeper, considered one of the best in the world, has gone from being an undisputed starter to a substitute in the matches against Cadiz FC and Celta de Vigo, recalls El Desmarque.
But the situation could change next Thursday for the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals against Manchester United. For this decisive match, Mendilibar should start Bounou who has the experience of European and international competitions. The Moroccan, who shone at the World Cup in Qatar, has already been the architect of Seville’s victory in the Europa League final, with his multiple and excellent saves, allowing the team to win its sixth title in the competition.
In all competitions combined, Bounou has played 2,586 minutes and Dmitrovic, barely half (1,223). In the Champions League, the Moroccan has played four matches against two for the Serb, but in the Europa League, Dmitrovic has played three matches against one for Bounou.
