Moroccan Star Amine Harit Rejoins Marseille on Loan with Purchase Option

Saved at the last minute once again in the final moments of the summer transfer window, Moroccan international Amine Harit has returned to Olympique de Marseille, on loan with a purchase option. A return that the Atlas Lion had strongly desired.

Galatasaray, Leicester City or even FC Porto. But it will ultimately be Olympique de Marseille who will succeed in the negotiations with Schalke 04 and manage to make the signing official 45 minutes before the transfer market closes. Amine Harit is therefore back at OM on loan, this time with a purchase option estimated at 5 million euros. A clause that will be triggered if the 25-year-old player plays 15 matches with the Phocaean club.

The attacking midfielder is delighted with this return to Marseille which could not have come at a better time. He was hoping for it despite the many offers from other clubs. "I feel joy, pride. I had an unfinished taste after the magnificent past season, and being back home, it does me the greatest good. [...] We ended the past season on a good note. I’m going on international duty, it’s going well too. The fact of returning to Marseille, that’s what I wanted. All these emotions experienced throughout the season were unforgettable for me and I wanted to relive them. I know it’s an emotional club and that’s what I’m looking for," reports Foot Mercato.

Amine Harit is returning to OM and finding a few changes there, such as a new coach and a different way of playing (Igor Tudor). For the Atlas Lion, there are no "limits to set" regardless of the obstacles. "I watched all the matches, I still have friends here so logically, I followed the matches. It’s a different style of play, a much more direct game, with a lot of intensity and pressing and it’s something that suits me perfectly. I’m a player who likes to move forward, who likes counter-attacks and transition games, so it can match. Anyway, given the person I am, I’m not someone difficult so new or old, the integration will be super easy," said the attacking midfielder.

With Jorge Sampaoli, the former coach of the Phocaean club, Amine Harit scored 5 goals and provided 4 assists. For this new season, he is ready to give even more. "I would like to take a step forward in my career and I think I’m in the right club to do it. It’s a different season from last year, given that there is the Champions League. I’ve already played a normal Ligue 1 match with Olympique de Marseille, it’s something special, so the Champions League, I can’t imagine. A Vélodrome stadium on fire, it’s for all these reasons that OM is different".

As for his international career, Amine Harit hopes that Walid Regragui, the new coach, will give him the chance to be selected in order to participate in the World Cup to be held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. "The World Cup in Qatar? Of course it’s an objective... a World Cup, to have experienced one, it’s something unique and incomparable. It’s up to me to do the work at the club to aspire to a place in the national team. I had a very good end-of-season gathering, I left a good trace. But as we know in football, only the present counts, people remember little of the past," he explained.
