Moroccan Star Ez Abde Leads Betis to First La Liga Win, Tops Scoring Charts

Moroccan striker Abdessamad Ezzalzouli of Real Betis opened the scoring against Leganés (2-0) on Friday, contributing to his club’s first Liga win of the season.

A remarkable start to the season for Ez Abde. The Atlas Lion was one of the architects of Betis’ victory over Leganés, their first of the season in La Liga, opening the scoring in the 74th minute after several missed opportunities in the first half. In great form, the Moroccan striker gave the opposing defense nightmares.

This season, the Moroccan international already has three goals in six matches, becoming Betis’ top scorer. He is also the player with the most playing time (380 minutes), after Rui Silva, Diego Llorente and Romain Perraud. The young player hopes to continue this momentum and give his best. "I’m more confident. Things are moving forward for me and that helps. I will continue to work to score even more goals and provide more assists," he said to the press on Friday after the victory over Leganés.

Ez Abde aims to establish himself at Betis this season after the departure of Ayoze Pérez for Villarreal. The Moroccan winger arrived at Betis from Barça for €7.5 million, with an option to buy for Barcelona. His contract with Betis runs until 2028.

Despite the tempting offers received during the summer transfer window, the Atlas Lion preferred to stay at Betis and gain the trust of Manuel Pellegrini. Ez Abde participated in the Paris Olympics with Morocco where he put in a remarkable performance. The striker scored two goals and provided three assists during the Olympic tournament, contributing to the feat of the Atlas Lions who won the bronze medal, their first Olympic medal.
