Moroccan-Spanish Entrepreneur Launches "Zeena" Canned Wine, Disrupting Traditional Market

Sana Khouja, the Barcelona-born Moroccan, is innovating by creating her own canned wine. The "Zeena" brand is already a hit and could be exported to many countries in the coming months.
Sana, 33, had worked for 5 years as Operations Director in a winery in Priorat, Catalonia. After training in the United States, she realized that canned wine can reach an audience that is not interested in bottled wine.
Upon her return to Spain, she launched Zeena, a wine presented in a can. "In 2018, I decided I wanted to stay in the wine industry, a wine world where innovation is not welcome, and when I went to the United States, I saw how everyone had access to these canned wines," she explains.
"I had to look for can suppliers, because wine cans are not like soda cans, they have a special film that protects them from contact with aluminum. I had to learn about the different products, the compatibility of the wine with the can, the shelf life, the qualities that are on the market," she adds.
"We are not in competition with the wine bottle, but rather with the beer also produced in cans," notes Sana, who points out that Zeena is an easy way
