Moroccan Social Media Star Jailed on Defamation and Privacy Charges

The Casablanca YouTuber Reda Bouzidi, known by the pseudonym "Oueld Chinwiya", was placed in pre-trial detention at the Ain Sebaâ - Oukacha prison in Casablanca on Wednesday.
He is accused of defamation, invasion of privacy and incitement to chaos within a security institution, following complaints filed against him.
The public prosecutor’s office also ordered the arrest and incarceration of Fatima Amziouq, a TikTok user known as "Bent Abbas", involved in this case.
Bouzidi, who had boasted a few hours earlier of his influence, is said to have lost consciousness during the hearing before the Attorney General. The investigation, conducted by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ), is focusing in particular on audio recordings broadcast on TikTok, which could suggest human trafficking.
Technical expertise is underway on the YouTuber’s mobile phones to determine his involvement in this case.
