Moroccan Soccer Stars Face Surprise Military Service Summons

Panic in the ranks of young players in first and second division football clubs. They have just received their summons for compulsory military service. A first in Morocco.
Even if military service is a gateway to the world of employment through the development of young people’s "know-how", some Botola Botola players did not appreciate receiving such a summons. According to the daily Assabah, it is a surprise and panic among these players, who thought they were exempt from military service because their sports activity depends on the survival of their family. They have also referred to their respective clubs to find out the procedure to follow.
According to the same daily, the presentation of a professional contract could allow them to postpone their military service. But few young people playing in amateur clubs or in Futsal clubs have such a contract. The same summons are likely to land with athletes competing in other sports.
The census operation for compulsory military service for the year 2023 began on December 28, 2022 and will end on February 25.
