Moroccan Soccer Players Strike Over Unpaid Wages Amid Pandemic

The players of Ittihad de Tanger are on strike. The reason is the non-payment of their salaries.
No more home training in this period of confinement. The Ittihad players are on strike to demand that the officials of their club pay their salaries on the one hand, and to protest against the alleged reduction of their salaries, on the other hand.
"How come the management is lowering our salaries, when we haven’t received anything for three months. We are talking about compensation for matches we played before the start of the crisis. This is why we have decided to go on strike," explains to Al Akhbar an anonymous player. According to the same source, the players threaten to continue the strike until their demands are met.
They say they have tried in vain to contact the members of the management of their club because, they claim, they no longer want to respond to their requests. Even the attempt by the Spanish coach, Pedro Benali, to solve the problem failed.
This crisis adds to the malaise that the club, which occupies the second-to-last place this season in the championship, is experiencing.
