Moroccan Singer Sparks Debate Over Sex Education in Schools and Media

Moroccan internet users were outraged by the comments of Moroccan singer and actress Mariem Hussein on sex education.
Moroccan singer Mariem Hussein finds herself at the center of a new controversy following her comments on sex education. During her interview on an Arab channel, she insisted on the need to teach sex education in schools and to include specific programs on this subject on television. "There must be a subject on television and on social networks, in addition to awareness campaigns," she added.
The singer’s comments sparked reactions from internet users. Some felt that highlighting sex education on social media was an exaggerated approach, while others adhered to Mariem Hussein’s proposal and called for teaching this subject in educational institutions.
In the past, the singer had received a one-month prison sentence and expulsion, following a relationship she had with a rapper. On her Instagram account, she had expressed her anger: "It’s as if I committed a murder. May God do me justice and punish all those who interfere in my private life."
