Moroccan Singer Saad Lamjarred Appeals 6-Year Rape Sentence in Paris

Sentenced to six years in prison for aggravated rape by the Paris Assize Court on February 24, 2023, Moroccan star Saad Lamjarred has appealed.
Saad Lamjarred’s lawyers, Thierry Herzog and Jean-Marc Fedida, have announced that their client has appealed the six-year prison sentence. An act justified by his protests of innocence.
On February 24, the Paris Assize Court sentenced the Moroccan singer to six years in prison. Justice found him guilty of having raped and beaten Laura Prioul in a hotel room in the capital in October 2016. It said it was "convinced" of the rape, "described in a consistent and precise manner" by the civil party.
Since his conviction, Saad has been incarcerated due to the committal order issued by the court. According to his lawyers, the committal order issued against him was not further justified, "since he has always respected his judicial supervision."
