Moroccan Singer Hatim Ammor Joins Growing Boycott of Performances in Algeria

A Moroccan artist has recently announced his refusal to perform in Algeria due to the political tensions between the two countries. This decision has already been made by other Moroccan singers and artists in the past.
In a statement to the media, singer Hatim Ammor said: "To the one who imposes a blockade on us, we also impose a blockade." In other words, he is boycotting Algeria until relations between the two countries improve.
Earlier this year, another Moroccan singer, Asmaa Lamnawar, had also refused to perform in Algeria, whether for concerts, galas or even private evenings.
Asmaa Lamnawar had told Ali Alalyani, the host of the "Marahel" show broadcast on the Saudi channel SBC: "I refuse to sing in Algeria." She justified her choice by the tensions between Morocco, her native country, and Algeria, which unilaterally broke off relations with Morocco in August 2022.
She also recalled King Mohammed VI’s offer of peace to Algeria, which has been constantly rejected by the Algerian authorities. The Moroccan singer describes this refusal as "senseless".
