Moroccan Singer’s Father Breaks Silence on Son’s 6-Year Rape Sentence

A few days after the conviction of Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred to 6 years in prison for aggravated rape, his father, Bachir Abdou, who had remained silent since the beginning of this case, broke his silence, expressing his "deep sadness".
Among the reactions recorded after the verdict of Saad Lamjarred’s trial, there is that of his father. Bachir Abdou expressed on Instagram his feelings of "sadness" and "incomprehension". For him, this verdict contains many unsaid things.
"I would like to express my deep sadness at what has happened to us, my wife Lalla Nouzha, and Ghita (Saad’s wife), as well as all the members of our family, for what the French justice system has pronounced as a verdict against my dear son Saad Lamjarred. Saad does not deserve this severe and full of darkness decision. We are going through a very difficult period these days," he wrote on his Instagram account.
To recall, Saad Lamjarred was tried for aggravated rape. The plaintiff is a 20-year-old French woman at the time of the events. The trial opened on February 20 in Paris and ended on February 24 with the conviction of the Moroccan singer to 6 years in prison. If for Saad Lamjarred’s relatives and family, the verdict is difficult to accept, Laura Prioul (the plaintiff) welcomes a prison sentence commensurate with what she went through after the incident in that Parisian hotel room.
Saad Lamjarred should appeal in the coming days.
