Moroccan Singer Dounia Batma Not on Hunger Strike, Family Says
Rumors suggesting that Dounia Batma would have started a hunger strike after her incarceration are unfounded, said close relatives of the Moroccan singer, assuring that she is doing well.
In their statements to AlJarida 24, Dounia Batma’s relatives denied this rumor about her hunger strike, stating that the singer is not suffering from any illness and is in perfect health. She hopes to benefit from a royal pardon when the time comes.
Moroccan artists and celebrities, friends of Dounia Batma, have expressed their solidarity and support following the announcement of her arrest last Wednesday in a neighborhood of the city of Casablanca. The singer was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Marrakech.
