Moroccan Runners Flee to US Amid Athletics Federation Dispute

Moroccan athletes have chosen to emigrate to the United States due to differences with the former technical management of the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation (FRMA).
The difficult collaboration with the former technical management of the FRMA has pushed a good number of these Moroccan athletes to exile themselves to the United States, where some have continued their training to improve their performance and others have preferred to enroll in courses to become coaches, reports the daily Assabah.
The Moroccan runners in question have suffered a lot from this situation, which did not allow them, or at least reduced their chance, to participate in international and continental competitions. They even tried to find a viable solution by seizing the board of the Federation to ask to continue working with their initial coaches rather than with the technical management. Without success. Hence their departure to the United States.
This phenomenon is recurrent in athletics and has been a hindrance to the development of this discipline at the national level for years. However, the practice has shown its limits, especially since the athletes who are supervised by the technical management have difficulty qualifying for international competitions, while those who have remained with their coaches are achieving good performances.
Moreover, the Federation does not have sufficient means to provide a coach for each national team athlete, the same source points out, estimating that this case should be the subject of an investigation.
