Moroccan Athletics Federation Dismisses 16 Athletes in Anti-Doping Crackdown

The Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation (FRMA) has decided to clean up its stable. 16 athletes flagged for doping have been dismissed.
Again under international criticism due to another doping case involving several Moroccan athletes, the FRMA has decided to take responsibility.
For the federation, this is an internal cleaning operation that should allow it to get off the IAAF blacklist, Assabah reports, specifying that several of these sidelined athletes had already been sanctioned for the same facts, before repeating the offense.
According to the newspaper, some of them were even excluded from the World Youth Athletics Championships that took place in Kenya (August 18-22, 2021). Out of the 24 Moroccan athletes who were to take part in this event, 13 were unable to participate.
In addition to this measure taken by the federation, these mostly young athletes are exposed to more severe sanctions ranging from 4 to 8 years of suspension. Consequently, this doping affair will end their careers.
