Moroccan Runner Wins French Half-Marathon, But Title Goes to Second-Place Finisher

Moroccan athlete Abdelilah El-Maimouni won the semi-marathon of Saint-Omer (Hauts-de-France) on Sunday, which was the support event for the French championships. Holding only Moroccan nationality, he could not be declared French champion.
Licensed to Varennes-Vauzelles Running, Abdelilah El-Maimouni participated in this race under the colors of Morocco. The 30-year-old long-distance runner had held a record since 2019 in 1h04’02, which he improved by completing the event in 1h03’30, reports lejdc.fr.
He beat Florian Carvalho (Pays de Fontainebleau), who finished second in 1h03’4, but who wins the title of French champion, in accordance with the regulations.
