Moroccan Rights Council Investigates Bus Company’s Alleged Migrant Discrimination

The controversy sparked by the discriminatory service note displayed by the Compagnie de Transports au Maroc (CTM) agency in Rabat towards illegal migrants continues to shock and provoke reactions. In a statement, the National Human Rights Council expressed its concern.
Having become aware of the information that has been the subject of lively controversy and reactions on social networks in recent days, the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) has committed to conducting "the necessary investigations" by contacting all the entities concerned.
In a statement, the CNDH insists on the "need to guarantee the fundamental principle of non-discrimination in accordance with the Constitution".
Indeed, in its preamble, the Moroccan Basic Law provides for the Kingdom’s commitment "to banish and combat any discrimination against anyone, on the grounds of sex, color, beliefs, culture, social or regional origin, language, disability or any personal circumstance whatsoever".
It all apparently started with a photo of a service note posted at the CTM agency in Rabat which indicated the prohibition of selling bus tickets to sub-Saharan nationals who do not have a residence permit in Morocco, particularly for trips to the north and south of the Kingdom.
