Moroccan Regional Leader Hospitalized Amid "Desert Escobar" Drug Trafficking Case

The health condition of the president of the Oriental region, Abdenbi Bioui, who is also a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), being prosecuted in detention in the Lhaj Ahmed Benbrahim alias "Escobar of the Desert" case, is very worrying.
With the agreement of the prison doctor of Oukacha, Abdenbi Bioui, incarcerated in the Escobar of the Sahara case at the local prison of Ain Sebaa, was transferred on Sunday, April 14 to the Ibn Rochd University Hospital due to serious health complications, reports H24info.
Unlike the president of the Oriental region, Said Naciri, president of Wydad de Casablanca, a member of parliament of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), and former president of the Prefectural Council of Casablanca, had a similar request for hospitalization refused by the same doctor. In a clarification in response to articles published on several electronic sites about the health condition of the former elected official, the Oukacha administration had specified that his health condition was "normal".
The administration had assured that the detainee "moves normally within the establishment and spends long hours conversing with members of his defense team who make recurring visits to him".
Serious charges including forgery in public writing by the fabrication of conventions and use of forgeries have been brought against Abdenbi Bioui and Said Naciri in the Lhaj Ahmed Benbrahim alias "Escobar of the Desert" case. After completing his judicial investigation at the end of March, the investigating judge will make a decision on the follow-up to the case.
