Moroccan Singer Latifa Raâfat Called to Testify in High-Profile Drug Trafficking Case

Latifa Raâfat should testify before the Casablanca Court of Appeal as part of the trial of former MP and former WAC president Said Naciri and former MP Abdenbi Bioui, in the case of Lhaj Ahmed Benbrahim alias "Escobar of the Desert", the former husband of the Moroccan singer.
The hearings resumed on Friday at the Casablanca Court of Appeal. Said Naciri’s lawyer requested the appearance of Latifa Raâfat before the court as a witness. Her ex-husband, the Malian Lhaj Ahmed Benbrahim alias "Escobar of the Desert" is also called upon to testify before the court. While he is being prosecuted in a state of arrest, his status has changed. He has gone from being the accused to being a witness and a civil party, much to the surprise of the defense.
According to the latter, there are many contradictions in the Malian’s statements. It has ensured that its client Naciri had no relationship with Benbrahim, and that the latter had falsified documents from prison. In addition to the Moroccan singer and her ex-spouse, other witnesses were called to the stand.
"Escobar of the Desert" brought down Said Naciri and Abdenbi Bioui. These two former PAM party leaders are being prosecuted with a dozen other people in this international drug case that originated from accusations made by the drug baron, who claims that influential personalities would have benefited from his largesse.
