Moroccan Singer Latifa Raâfat Questioned in 'Desert Escobar' Drug Trafficking Case

Information indicates that singer Latifa Raâfat, the ex-wife of Malian Ahmed Benbrahim, the main accused in the "Escobar of the Desert" case, and the former partner of Abdenbi Bioui, president of the Oriental region, appeared before the investigating judge at the Court of Appeal in Casablanca.

These two women were present at the Court of Appeal in Casablanca for their hearing before the investigating judge. Their presence "could be related to the ongoing investigations in the "Escobar of the Sahara" case where Saïd Naciri, president of the Wydad Casablanca club and the Prefectural Council of the metropolis under the colors of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Abdenbi Bioui, president of the Oriental region, and other persons are being prosecuted," according to Hespress. During the investigation by the judicial police, the singer had stated that Saïdi Naciri had visited her home in Rabat, where he had met her ex-husband, Ahmed Ben Brahim, alias "Escobar of the Sahara," a drug baron. The Malian had reportedly stated that the meeting with Naciri was aimed at coordinating the trafficking of several tons of drugs in 2013.

The president of the Oriental region, Abdenbi Bioui, a member of the PAM political bureau, is accused of international drug trafficking. He is accused of providing false information and statements. He is also accused of having concluded a prior agreement with other persons to fabricate a case of violence, injury and theft against the brother of his ex-wife, in order to deter her from filing a complaint for forgery against him.

The appearance of "Jamila B." and "Abderrahim B.," the parents of "Samia B.," the ex-wife of the PAM leader in the Oriental region involved in the case, as witnesses also took place before the same court, before the investigating judge.
