Notorious Malian Drug Lord "Desert Escobar" Transferred to Salé Prison Amid Safety Concerns

The General Delegation for Penitentiary Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) has decided to transfer the international Malian drug trafficker Haj Ahmed Ben Ibrahim, nicknamed the "Desert Escobar", who was initially detained in the El Jadida prison before being transferred to the local Ain Sebaâ 1 prison.
New transfer of Haj Ahmed Ben Ibrahim. The Malian drug trafficker has been transferred from the Ain Sebaâ 1 (Oukacha) prison in Casablanca to the local Salé 2 prison. This transfer comes a few days after the prisoner’s family claimed that he had been "the victim of two assassination attempts". Allegations denied by the General Delegation for Penitentiary Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR). "The prisoner in question has never been the victim of any attempted murder or assault by anyone, and all allegations in this regard are unfounded," the DGAPR said in a statement.
The Malian Haj Ahmed Ben Ibrahim "has never filed a complaint with the administration of the establishment regarding any alleged attempted murder or assault, knowing that he enjoys all the rights legally granted to him, like the other inmates of the establishment," adds the same source. The DGAPR also assures that it "takes all necessary preventive security measures to preserve the safety of prisoners, within the framework of its missions related to security."
Incarcerated at the El Jadida prison since 2019, Haj Ahmed Ben Ibrahim was recently transferred to the local Ain Sebaâ prison. This man, whose mother is of Moroccan origin, has brought down 25 individuals, including Said Naciri, president of Wydad de Casablanca, a member of parliament of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), and president of the Prefectural Council of Casablanca, the president of the Oriental region, Abdenbi Bioui, a member of the PAM political bureau and Belkacem Mir, a former PAM deputy in the first chamber. Accused of international drug trafficking, money laundering, real estate spoliation, takeover of stolen vehicles, forgery and use of forgery, etc., they were placed in pre-trial detention.
