Moroccan Rapper’s Trial Delayed in Royal Family Insult Case

The court of first instance in Fez has postponed to May 23 the examination of the case of the author of the song "Char Zid Kbi Hawaï", prosecuted in custody for "contempt of a legally constituted body and offense to a constitutional institution".
The judge granted the request of the rapper’s lawyer who asked for a one-week delay to better prepare his defense. The next hearing has been set for May 23. The author of the song "Char Zid Kbi Hawaï" was arrested on May 7 and placed in detention at the Bourkaiz prison. Two days later, he was presented before the investigating judge who ordered his continued detention.
The accused is being prosecuted for "contempt of a legally constituted body and offense to a constitutional institution". He is accused of having disseminated this song during the trial of his brother and his friend, authors of the song "Char Kbi Atay", which provoked strong reactions on the web. The latter were ultimately sentenced to two years in prison each. They have appealed the decision.
