Moroccan Rappers Jailed for ’Inciting Debauchery’ in Controversial Song

Two years in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams. This is the sentence handed down on Monday by the court of first instance in Fez against the authors of the controversial song "Kobi atay", accused of "inciting minors to debauchery or prostitution".
The criminal chamber of the court of first instance in Fez sentenced each of the two authors of the controversial song to a sentence of two years in prison with a fine of 500 dirhams. The two defendants were sentenced under Article 497 of the Penal Code, which punishes with a sentence of 2 to 10 years in prison any person inciting minors under 18 to debauchery or prostitution, or to commit a crime or offense by electronic means (218-5).
The song, which caused an uproar, is "indecent," according to the terms of the association "Don’t touch my child," which believes that certain excerpts clearly incite sexual exploitation and the rape of minors. In a statement, the association called on civil society, namely human rights organizations, as well as all the living forces of the kingdom, to join hands to fight against the rape of children.
