Moroccan Rapper Jailed Over Song Allegedly Insulting Royal Family and Government

The court of first instance of Fez ordered the detention of the author of the song "Charr kabbi Hawai" (Verse of Hawaii) whose lyrics are considered as offenses to the royal family and the government.
The accused, detained in the Bourkaiz prison, is being prosecuted for "insulting a body regulated by law and attacking a constitutional institution". He was given a week to prepare his defense.
The singer was arrested on Wednesday and placed in custody after the dissemination on social networks, a few days ago, of the song "Charrr Kebbi Hawaï" whose lyrics are considered by the public prosecutor as offenses to the royal family and the government.
The music video of the song has become viral on YouTube and Facebook. It was shot in Fez, notably near the abandoned construction site of the library and contains images of the arrest of another rapper sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams.
