Moroccan Protesters Storm Bilbao Consulate Over Administrative Delays

The Consulate of Morocco in Bilbao was stormed, at the beginning of the week, by about twenty Moroccans residing in the Basque region. The latter protested against the administrative slowness.
The Consul of the Kingdom had to call on the police services to disperse the protesters, who were protesting against the complex and slow procedures and formalities imposed by the country’s only diplomatic representation in the region.
The jurisdiction of the Moroccan Consulate in Bilbao is not limited to the Basque Country, but extends to the provinces of Galicia, Navarre, Asturias, Cantabria and La Rioja, which have a large concentration of Moroccans.
The daily presence of many Moroccans near the consulate also disturbs the residents, who complain about the long queues.
