Moroccan Political Leader Accuses France of Long-Term Deception in Bilateral Relations

The bilateral relations between Morocco and France were questioned by Idriss Lachgar, the first secretary of the Union of Socialist Popular Forces (USFP) party, during a study day organized by the socialist group in the House of Representatives.

In his speech, Lachgar argued that for decades, France has been deceiving Morocco by claiming to support it, stressing that the achievements in Morocco over the past decades have placed the country in a position of equality with Europe, which it does not accept.

Lachgar referred to the foundations of the partnerships between Morocco and certain European countries, recalling that the first negotiations with Spain were about agricultural products and that the nations did not understand Morocco’s development project. This is also the case with Germany and the United Kingdom, according to the political leader.

Regarding France, Lachgar stated that it is deceiving Morocco by claiming to support it. "Our destiny in this strategic situation is to face east, south and north for the defense of our true national cause," he said.

Questioning the bilateral relations between Morocco and France, the USFP Secretary General accused France of deceiving Morocco by claiming to support it. He also stressed that the achievements in Morocco over the past decades have placed the country in a position of equality with Europe, which it does not accept. He called for a reflection on the relations between Morocco and Europe and for a defense of the Moroccan national cause.
