Moroccan Police Chief Lauded by France and Spain for High-Profile Arrests

At the head of the DGSN and the DGST for several years, Abdellatif Hammouchi, with his teams, carries out often difficult missions to ensure the safety of all. This commitment has also allowed the head of the Moroccan security services to receive the recognition of foreign governments, particularly those of France and Spain.
Two not insignificant arrests have allowed Hammouchi and his men to receive the congratulations of the French and Spanish governments once again. These include, recalls the Maghreb Intelligence website, the arrest in March last of two European criminals actively sought by Interpol.
To the credit of these two operations carried out by the Moroccan security services, the same source first mentions an Italian mobster, linked to the Neapolitan Camorra on the run since 2014 and who was arrested in Marrakech on Monday, March 18, 2019. The Italian government has also welcomed the news of this arrest "with satisfaction", describing it as a "nice gift for all Italians".
A few days after this caviar offered to Italy, the elements of the Moroccan judicial police captured, using information provided by the DGST services, a Spaniard named Roberto Izquierdo Riego, known as "El Ruso", who had already been sentenced to 58 years in prison and had managed to escape from prison after being transferred to a hospital in Madrid, the site recalls. The investigations of the Moroccan security services established that this Italian outlaw known as "El Ruso" had managed to enter Moroccan territory using a Spanish passport with a false identity, before being captured in Tetouan.
Without a doubt, these two operations led by Abdellatif Hammouchi and his elements help secure not only Morocco, but also Europe and the world. They are part, notes Maghreb Intelligence, of the framework of bilateral cooperation relations, particularly in the field of "security and close coordination between Moroccan security services and their Spanish and Italian counterparts in the fight against organized transnational crime".
