Moroccan Police Bust Sextortion Ring Targeting Politicians in Fez

The elements of the prefectural service of the judicial police of Fez succeeded in dismantling a sextortion network that targets politicians. Five people, including a woman, were arrested.
This sextortion case came to light following a complaint filed with the police by a member of parliament from a majority party, the president of a rural municipality in the vicinity of Fez, reports Al Akhbar. In his complaint, the politician claims to have received calls from an individual who threatened to publish sexual videos of him in the virtual company of a young woman on social networks. The blackmailer would have demanded a sum of 500,000 dirhams from him.
The elements of the judicial police asked the parliamentarian to set up a meeting with the individual to make the exchange. The meeting took place in a cafe on the road to Ain Chkef. During the exchange, the police were able to arrest the suspect. Taken to the police station, he revealed the names of his accomplices, including a woman. The latter even posted a video in which she accused the parliamentarian of raping her and threatened to commit suicide. The preliminary investigation reveals that this criminal gang has targeted several other deputies.
Pending the resolution of this case, the suspects have been placed in custody.
